Weathered Wood

There is something about rustic barns that fascinate me.  They make me think about the days when our food came from farms run by families and not corporations.  As time passes there are fewer of the old structures still standing so whenever I see one that has character I try to capture it in my lens.  This bard was in Arkansas on a drive outside of Brandon, Missouri.

Reflection in the Japanese Garden

The fall colors are like a palette of color gracing our gardens. Japanese Gardens seem to always have water features and rocks that create reflection and framing of some of the beautifully trimmed trees.  I love the reflection of these colors in the pond.

Temporary Art... Sandsations

Every summer in Long Beach artists and families come to the Sandsations festival to build sculptures made entirely of sand from the beach.  Most of us as children had our buckets and shovels to make a sand castle of some sort using the incoming wake as part of a moat.  When these artist get to work it is amazing to watch how they can create figures with such detail that will last for a few days and then .... poof... gone!

Duck Dodge on a Breezy July Afternoon

The weekly Tuesday sailboat race in Lake Union all summer is called "Duck Dodge."  The number of sailboats that fill the lake is just amazing. Each week there is a theme... it could be a pajama party, prom or pirates. From the dock by my boat I cannot always see the costumes.  I love to see the boats come south from Gas Works Park with their spinnakers full of wind and then try to get around the buoy at Lake Union Park without crashing into another boat.

Fish Tale... tails.. in Olympia

In Olympia, WA try to check out the Fish Tale Pub.  The local brew is great but also the exterior painting is just eye catching!

Rainbow of Flowers

Standing in a field of blooming colorful flowers is so different from a garden. Thousands of flowers fill the fields in the Skagit Valley in rows as far as you can see.  My heart just soars at the sight.

Skagit Snow Geese and Swans

My heart soared as I watched the Snow Geese fill the sky! The swans were so graceful in the fields and ponds. They fill the fields in Skagit County during the winter... a spectacular sight.

From a Different Angle

It was a challenge for a Meetup.com photography group... set out to capture the Space Needle for one hour on a Sunday. It is one of the most photographed icons in the city visited by over a million visitors a year. It took awhile to start looking from different angle!

Full Moon over Lake Union

It is almost magical when the full moon and the city lights reflect on Lake Union. It was a cold winter night looking over the south end of the lake.
